A fairly tall plant that can reach up to six feet in height.
The smooth stems are generally light green to reddish purple. The white flowers are held on erect spike-like racemes and are quite showy. Bloom time ranges from mid-spring to early summer. Preference is for full sun, dry to mesic soils.
Generally found in less disturbed sites partially due to the large heavy seeds that do no travel far. This plant is great for bumblebees. Seeds may germinate the first year, but may take up to 3 years to flower.
