Cardinal flower is a dazzling, bright red, native perennial wildflower found in moist to wet areas in most of the United States and eastern Canada.
It is a magnet for hummingbirds which are frequently found nearby when it is blooming from early summer on.
Typically found along stream sides, marsh areas and woodland clearings.
A great garden species.
