Virginia bluebells produce a bluish-purple flower and prefer to put their roots down in rich, moist soils. When purchasing and planting for Spring, it's important to remember to cold-moist stratify the seed for 6 weeks or put the seeds in the ground six weeks prior to the last frost date.

This perennial is an early bloomer and will make an appearance anywhere from March to June depending on temperatures. It reaches heights anywhere from 1 to 3 feet and likes to stay partially in the shade.

What is Stratification?
