Penstemon digitalis is a native perennial wildflower growing usually no taller than 3 feet. It has white tubular flowers blooming in early to mid Spring.
These flowers are an important food source for hummingbirds at this time of year.
Generally found in full sun, it will occur in semi-shaded edge zones as well. It grows from a fibrous root system.
It is found east of the Rocky Mountains, to the east coase of the United States and the eastern half of Canada.
