This native perennial grass works well in any prairie planting or garden setting. It thrives in full sun to heavy shade and gets its name from the seed heads that look like bottle brushes.
A taller grass, this reaches heights anywhere from 3 to 6 feet and produces blooms anywhere from June through August.
How To Plant Bottlebrush Grass:
Direct sow seeds into prepared soil in late fall once soil temps are below 50 degrees (usually mid to late November). Can also be planted in winter during natural freeze/thaw cycles and early spring. Plant shallow, no deeper than 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep and lightly rake to work seed in. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Can take 3 growing seasons to fully establish.
