If the flowers of Obedient Plant are manipulated, they tend to stay in that position for a while hence the name. A very adaptable plant, this will do well when planted in both drier and moist soil conditions and most light requirements.
Long lasting pink and purple blooms adorn the plant and will pop up anywhere from August through November. It's an excellent nectar source for butterflies and hummingbirds. A taller perennial, Obedient Plant reaches heights of 3 to 6 feet.
How To Plant Obedient Plant Seeds:
Direct sow seeds into prepared soil in late fall once soil temps are below 50 degrees (usually mid to late November). Can also be planted in winter during natural freeze / thaw cycles and early spring. Plant shallow, no deeper than 1/8 to 1/4 inch deep and lightly rake to work seed in. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Can take three growing seasons to fully establish.
