This sunflower-like perennial tends to move north and south to avoid the head of the mid day sun. Like Cup Plant and Prairie Dock, Compass Plant has very large leaves and makes its stature known in the prairie world.
Birds favor the seed heads and its a magnet for butterflies. This plant prefers full sun and very dry soil. It is very drought tolerant.
